How to Connect Lightburn or Lasergrbl via Bluetooth?

Posted by Gray Chen on

Overview

The NEJE 3, 4, and 5 series devices utilize the BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) communication protocol, which is not supported by LightBurn or LaserGRBL. To connect your device to LightBurn (or LaserGRBL), you can use the GRBL Connection Bridge. This bridge allows GRBL data to be sent to the NEJE control software first, which then forwards the data to the NEJE device via USB or Bluetooth.

Supported Devices

Compatible with NEJE 3, 4, and 5 series devices only.
Supported exclusively by the Windows version of the NEJE control software.

Steps to Achieve the Wireless Connection

A. Install Virtual Serial Port Software

Download the appropriate version: 32-bit (x86) software or 64-bit (x64) software. Install the software using the default options; it should be ready for use without any additional configuration.

B. Turn on Bluetooth

Turn on your computer's Bluetooth in Settings.

C. Use the Connection Bridge

FAQS:

1.Virtual COM Port Pair NOT Ready

Please Try the following steps:

  1. Close the NEJE software.
  2. Run setupg.exe(C:\Program Files (x86)\com0com)
  3. Delete existing virtual serial port pairs until you have an empty list.

Then create a new serial port pair.

Note: On your computer, they may be different, such as COM3 and COM4. These are all available and correct.

2.Why is Bluetooth Takes Longer than USB Coonection?

Bluetooth connections have a slower data rate. Bluetooth transmission speed and reliability are not as high as USB. For longer tasks, processing large datasets (e.g. grayscale mode) may take more time. USB connection is recommended.

3.Not at GRBL Mode

If you enable Reliable Transmission Mode, a yellow LED on the mainboard will light up, indicating that the device is not in traditional GRBL mode. In this mode, you cannot connect your device directly to LightBurn. You will need to exit Reliable Transmission Mode or restart your device to connect it directly to LightBurn.

4. Can I connect to the machine wirelessly via my mobile phone?

Android, ios and other mobile devices can download the NEJE App in the app store for connection. And they all use bluetooth for connection.
