How to Use One-Key Start for Laser Engraving?

Posted by Joey Weng on

Introduction

The offline mode on NEJE laser engravers is a powerful feature that lets you run jobs without keeping a computer connected. A single multi-function button on the motherboard gives direct control, supporting everything from simple text to multi-layer designs. This article—based on the attached images and official documentation—walks you through setup, operation, benefits, and hands-on tips for mastering offline work.

How to implement offline work on LightBurn

  • Long-press the multi-function button: Hold the red button on the mainboard until the yellow LED lights up—NEJE mode is now active.
  • Default state: At power-up the machine is in GRBL mode (yellow LED off, green LED on).  After you send a file with the “REC” command($REC Auto/Run) in LightBurn console, the firmware automatically switches to NEJE mode so the job can run offline.(The Neje software does not require  “REC” command and is offline by default.)
  • Data transfer: Before your press the start, you can press the "REC" first then press the start. In this way, you can use the “REC” feature in your software to store the design inside the engraver’s memory. Once stored, the machine no longer needs the PC to transfer and it will run itself.

Operating in NEJE Mode

While in NEJE mode, the multi-function button behaves as follows:

  • First press: Reset the machine (clears errors and prepares for a new task).
  • Double-press: Start the pre-loaded engraving job.
  • Second single press: Define the work area, helping you set the exact engraving boundaries.

Control During the job:

  • Single click: Pause the task (handy for inspection or mid-job tweaks).
  • Second single click: Resume from pause.
  • Long-press: Emergency stop—completely halts the job.

Advantages of Offline Work

• Portability: Take the engraver to craft fairs, markets, or field sites—no laptop required.
• Independence: Once a file is loaded, the PC is free for other tasks.
• Flexibility: Multi-layer files are supported, meeting the needs of professional users.

Conclusion

The NEJE laser engraver’s offline mode, driven by a single smart button and supported by powerful software, delivers a convenient, efficient engraving experience. Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, mastering offline mode unlocks limitless creativity. With its blend of portability, flexibility, and robust functionality, the NEJE engraver is the ideal tool for makers on the go.
